Android Photo Widget

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.thinkjava.androidphotowidgetfree

This is how I have the pic of Dan and I centered on my homescreen - I can't stand visual clutter, so I can't use photos as wallpaper - the icons over the photo bother me. I use a pretty plain background (ink theme through GoLauncher EX) and this app to add photos.

Where's My Droid?

As soon as I was setting up my phone, my son reminded me to add this one. Not only do we use this when I set my phone down and forget where
(my volume is almost always off) but the kids use this for emergencies. If I am out so
mewhere and they know I have my volume off, but they NEED to reach me, they can text the preset phrase to my phone, and it will turn it on. That has come in handy quite a few times.

EEBA - Envelope Budgeting , Digitally

Another of my favorite apps. This is based on the envelope budgeting sysytem. Typically you would get cash, and put the cash in envelopes by category- groceries, clothing, entertainment, etc. This is the electronic version. Each week when dan does our budget, he fills in the envelopes in this software. Every time we spend money, we deduct it from the appropriate evnvelope in this app.

Color Note - Sticky Notes For My Phone

Ignore the diet graphic, I have no idead where that came from! ColorNote is sticky notes for your phone. I love sticky notes. :-) One entire homescreen on my phone is dedicated to ColorNotes. It has a calendar (seperate from google calendar) to schedule tasks, and a sticky note with the days tasks is available as a widget. My weekly to do list, my projects list, etc, are some of the additional stickies I keep visible as widgets. And because I use golauncher, I can resize the sticky notes to exactly the size I want them to be. :-)

Weatherbug - My favorite Weather App

Dan runs 3 different weather apps on his phone (especially during hay season...) but this is the one we use most often. I like that the weather is right in my drop down notification bar. Nice alerts, and a good satellite map.`

Endomondo Vs Cardiotrainer

 vs

When I reinstalled My Fitness Pal on my "new" phone, I saw the option to sync it with Endomondo.  I've been using cardiotrainer for years, but then I have to manually enter my workouts into MyFitnessPal, and often lately the gps has not been working on cardiotrainer.  I know that it is not a phone issue, because this is a new phone, and I'm having the same problem.  It's not a location issue, because the same app on my husbands phone works just fine.  I'm baffled.

Anyway, I decided to try Endomondo.  I like the look.  It took me a minute to find the menus, but once I did, they are nice - clean.  Crisp.

My first time out with this app, I answered a phone call in the middle of my walk, and it ended my work out.  That would be a problem.  I'm still looking to see if that is a setting I can change, or why that happened...

I really prefer the cardiotrainer widget - which is small, simple, and shows how many calories I have burned for the week.  The endomondo widget is large, and shows text listing all of my activity.  It's more of a newsfeed, like facebook.

The gps seems to work much better on endomondo.

The calories are WAY off on endomondo.  It consistently tells me I burned 300-500 calories more than I did, on long work outs.  CardioTrainer and MyFitnessPal are usually within 10 calories of each other on my work outs, Endomondo is WAY high.  I can adjust that by telling it I weigh less than I do, so not a huge issue, but something to keep in mind.

I haven't used Endomondo enough to be sure what I think of it, yet.

OI Shopping List

My favorite shopping list app. Long press on each item, choose edit, and add the price. Now when you make your list, it will show you the total cost in the bottom right. As you cross things off your list, a total on the left shows what you spent so far. I know, to the penny, what my total will be when I get to the checkout.
